A garden which keeps on giving. Our 1950s front lawn was replaced with a design by Louise with ‘birds and bees’ being a theme including lavender and allium for the bees and currants for the birds. Classic '50s crocosmia and fuschia complemented the mid century build semi and the garden is enjoyed by passersby every day.

Lou transformed the total mess of our front and back gardens into lush havens that are now our pride and joy. She was absolutely brilliant throughout the process — taking the time to really get to know us and what we wanted from a garden, and project managing the whole thing seamlessly. We now get so much pleasure from our outdoor spaces (as do our kids) — and more and more, every year as the trees and plants mature. Highly recommend.

Lou designed and managed both the front and back gardens builds and planting to our Victorian villa in South East London. We did the front garden first, a significant challenge sloping in two directions.

Lou was able to match my ‘be creative’ brief as I wanted a ‘bridge’ to reduce the steps both down and up to our front door. Not only did we have a funky Corten steel bridge craned into the garden, but we took down all the fencing and built a low welcoming front wall and redid the grand front steps. The planting is delightful and well established within a couple of years. People come and sit on the wall just to look at the garden. How lovely is that?

Following the success of Lou's front garden redesign, Lou tackled the back with a series of interlocking circles, aiming to force the focus of the back directly from the wide kitchen doors. It is a big garden, again on a slope, so not without challenges.

What with a new balcony, and skip loads of London clay removed, Lou created two ground floor terraces and a wide open circular lawn flanked by three circular terraces for seating and socialising. The planting reflected what we had done in the front, with plenty of interest throughout the year without it being overwhelming to maintain. Grasses and wild meadow are a delight from the hammock looking back at the house.

Honestly these gardens are totally amazing! Lou is traditional in her approach with a wealth of planting and structural knowledge.
