Following the success of Lou's front garden redesign, Lou tackled the back with a series of interlocking circles, aiming to force the focus of the back directly from the wide kitchen doors. It is a big garden, again on a slope, so not without challenges.
What with a new balcony, and skip loads of London clay removed, Lou created two ground floor terraces and a wide open circular lawn flanked by three circular terraces for seating and socialising. The planting reflected what we had done in the front, with plenty of interest throughout the year without it being overwhelming to maintain. Grasses and wild meadow are a delight from the hammock looking back at the house.
Honestly these gardens are totally amazing! Lou is traditional in her approach with a wealth of planting and structural knowledge.
